Sustainable Hotel Art: Mii amo Enchantment Resort

It all started with a simple idea, “Every artwork should be made of a natural material, and no framed pieces of art . . . ”

We love a good design challenge – when hotel-owner and architecture-firm-partner Dana Tang presented this request, we got to work creating an art collection of  all sustainable materials. The result highlights the natural surroundings while providing beautiful spaces for guests to reflect.

The landscape is the real star of the show, inspiring the artworks in colors, textures, and story. With this in mind, our artists crafted each piece specifically for Mii amo. We partnered with Gluckman Tang Architects and EDG interior designers to bring the collection to life. A mix of local, national, and international artists welcome a diversity of guests in the public space and guest rooms.

Luxury Hotel Art & Sustainable Hotel Art

Mii amo is a world-class, 5-star hotel and spa nestled in the red Boynton Canyon of Sedona, AZ. Guests enjoy sweeping views, meditation, health treatments, and inward discovery. Travel + Leisure named it one of the top 100 hotels in the world.

The Mii amo site states, “Since 2001 Mii amo has been recognized as a leader amongst destination spa and wellbeing resorts, for its programming, the caliber of its professionals, its setting, architecture and design.” As a luxury hotel, art plays an important role – the number of mediums, story, and locality all affect a hotel’s ratings – read more about how art affects ratings here. We loved using sustainable art while creating a luxe look.

Sustainable Hotel Art Process

Our process typically looks like:

  • Learning the client's wishes for the space.

  • A first-blush of artwork for feedback from the client on likes and dislikes.

  • Client feedback refines the final collection.

  • Cost analysis sheets and value-engineered options are provided, including sustainable art

  • Curate Art Group provides sketches and material samples for approval.

  • Once concepts and materials are approved, the final pieces are crafted.

A typical art package showcases local and diverse artists, along with sustainable art options and unique concepts for the space.
